My Weight Loss Journey
I have been overweight since I was child.  Of course there were times in my life were I was thin (my freshman year in
college when I lived on Popcorn and had a required aerobics class 5 days a week) and then about 10 years ago, using a
physician prescribed weight loss medicine I was able to lose all the excess weight, but once the meds stopped the weight
came back.

I started Weight Watchers about 6 weeks ago, and was doing well but struggling everyday.  Realizing this wasn't
enough, I decided to re-explore surgery alternatives.  About a year ago I had looked at LapBand Surgery...  But of course
it is close to $30,000 in the US and that is beyond by reach.  Knowing I could have it done in Mexico for much less
($7,000), I chose to research this option.  The Internet is such a wonderful place where you can meet and talk with
many people who have done surgery in Mexico.  So, I researched, chose a doctor and then tried to pick a date.  This was
the hard part as I had puppies due, a trip planned for Europe and Mom going away. So on Friday, April 4th - I called Dr.
Zapata office to see if they could schedule me last minute for the next day.  They could!  I found backup for my litter
being born, just in case. Booked Airfare, washed my long coated dogs, packed my suitcase and headed for the airport.
Within 24hrs of making the commitment I was in Monterrey, Mexico having Laproscopic Surgery.

You can visit here often sharing with me the weight loss journey.

Well, I am 10 days out.  Things are going much better.  Most of soreness is gone,
though still a little where the port is placed. I am no longer as bloated.  Sleeping...
Better, though can still be sore at times.

There really isn't much restriction in the band right now...  I am in the healing stage -
but that requires a liquid/mushy diet for a couple of weeks.   So I can blend up most
things into a soupy consistency and eat it.  The last couple days I have had vegetable
soup, potato soup, and last time tomato soup.  I also have smoothies as well.

Breakfast consisted of 1/2 cup of smashed Raisin Bran and 1/4 cup of milk,  Lunch I
had a delicious 3/4 cup of chicken enchilada soup.  So delicious.  Truth is I will be
having the Chicken Enchilada Soup for a couple of days.

I seem to be fine during the day, but the evening are the hardest.  I seem to be
hungry then.  I have changed my schedule to walk in the mornings and that seems to
help.
